LEGENDS ONLY Ssnake Press Double Launch | 11th September @ 7pm

Join us as we launch the first two publications from Ssnake Press, a new independent publisher based in London. Ssnake Press was born out of a desire to promote ambitious and adventurous writing in the UK and Ireland, and to nurture readership in ways that sidestep our frantic attention economy. Its first publications are short prose works by two Glasgow-based Irish authors. Both texts are published as hand-made booklets and will be available to purchase on the night.

How to Inject by Kate O’Connor is an essay about hormones from the internet, gay politics, loneliness, cults and much else besides. In prose described by Rob Doyle as "sharp, allusive, and arrestingly open-ended,” O'Connor hones in playfully on the sore spot of gay liberation’s failures. 

Stag Do/Fantasy Horn by Anna Walsh is a short story whose trans narrator finds themself on a night out with a group of straight men connecting them to a previous life. As they go from bar to club to bed, they grapple with the pitfalls of a desire for “perfect specimens” of amped-up masculinity. This is clear-eyed and compassionate narrative about demands made on the body by gender and labour

Kate O'Connor is a writer from Dublin, Ireland. She is working on a collection of essays in the gay tradition of saying too much. How to Inject is available from Ssnake Press, and her essay "Lotus Eaters" appeared in The Pig's Back.

Anna Walsh is an Irish writer and editor. Their poetry and prose has been published by The Stinging Fly, The London Magazine, Extra Teeth and others. They are represented by Lexington Literary and are working on their debut novel.
